The Building Blocks of Society
The Building Blocks of Society
2025

As an exhibition putting multiple sources that influence a well-functioning society. The Building Blocks of Society was a collaboration by KaQui Wright and Aria Thomas. They reflect on the privileges of living within a government that allows for creative social occurrences. It features specific categories of social design in a bright, colorful, and digestible layout. This project conceptualizes the recognition of each block as a distinct system and how they can work uniformly with the free will of the American viewer. The encounter with the information is at first overwhelming, but as the viewer slows down and lingers for a while, it adds participation in the project. This causes a shock of personal responsibility through interacting with the created community-building space. The project highlights structures encouraged within a society that are available to each person for art to impact their surroundings.
