Impact
Landways illustrates an aerial perspective of the land and the patterns that form across it. The quilt features spaces for suburban homes, rural homes, farmland, lakes, and cityscapes. The piece responds to our reception of these county landscapes within Midwestern tradition.
The concept considers land in relation to both the individual and the community. How do we define ourselves by the environment we inhabit? The forced displacement of Native Peoples from their traditional homelands remains a present reality that we cannot escape. The expression of nationhood across these dimensions creates experiential narratives.
